The GSTEP Challenge’s Award ceremony in Ghana recently celebrated innovation, recognized excellence, and promoted STEM education in the Eastern Region. The event encouraged practical STEM skills development among students and teachers, benefiting local communities.
On May 29-30, 2024, the Eastern Regional Homecoming took place, marking a significant milestone in the implementation of the GSTEP program. The highlight of the award presentation tour was the visit and award to the 2nd Runner-up of the GSTEP challenge, The Light Bearers from the Da-Great Impact School Complex.
The GSTEP team visited schools in the Atiwa West District, Kwaebibirem Municipal District, New Juaben South Municipal, Juaben North District, and Abuakwa North Municipal, presenting awards in various categories, including the Most Innovative Idea, Founder’s Award, People’s Choice Award, and Perseverance Award.
The GSTEP team was welcomed by a cultural troupe performance, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Eastern Region. The GSTEP team presented a wide array of STEM equipment to the schools, including microscopes, robotics kits, and laptops. Keren Beecham, Project Manager at DreamOval Foundation, demonstrated the use of these items, and Afua Asiamah Adjei, Executive Director of the DreamOval Foundation, commended the finalists and handed over the STEM items.
The school authorities expressed their gratitude and pledged to encourage and support numerous entries from their institution in the upcoming phase of the GSTEP challenge. The dedication to fostering STEM education and innovation displayed by the schools in the Eastern Region was truly inspiring, and we look forward to witnessing the impact of their commitment in the future.
