Ashanti Region Semi-Finalist Induction Event – 42 Teams Inducted for 2025 GSTEP Challenge
The Ashanti Regional GSTEP 2025 Semi-Finalist Induction was held on the 14th and 15th of January 2025 at the Kumasi Anglican Senior High School, bringing together teams from various schools across the region. The two-day event took place amidst excitement from students, teachers, and mentors, with key attendees from the Ghana Education Service (GES) and consortia partner organizations, including the DreamOval Foundation, Partnership Bureau, Practical Education Network, and Shulem Lake and Foundation Botnar.
The induction ceremony was designed to equip the teams with skills and knowledge to develop their prototypes. The students were divided into carousel groups, each focused on specific aspects of innovation. Pitch Perfect, this group focused on public speaking and communication, helping students develop confidence in pitching their ideas effectively. The Synergy Safari group of students learned the value of teamwork and collaboration to achieve shared goals. Also, STEMplosion provided hands-on training introducing participants to practical ways of using STEM materials to create prototypes.
Meanwhile, teachers, mentors, and coaches participated in capacity-building sessions. Representatives from Shulem Lake demonstrated the One4All kit, a resource toolkit for STEM education, providing guidance on its components, usage, and how to access additional materials.
The Ashanti Regional Director of Education commended the GSTEP Consortium for its dedication to empowering youth through STEM education. She urged the teams to remain committed and innovative, reminding them that their journey holds the promise of transforming their communities.
